First Fish of the Season on The First Cast of the Year

You know your going to have a good day when the first cast of the season you hook a hot Steelhead.There are some good's number of fish in all the river's right now,but with the warm weather it will not last long. Have fun out there.

Finding Joy in Fishing Beyond Catching Fish

As a angler with some experience you get to a point where catching fish isn't as important as it use to be.Don't get me wrong I still get all jacked up on my way to the stream.But I have started to enjoy the whole experience allot more and the thrill of watching someone else land a fish

.I guess that is what the allure of guiding is to me.Last night at the Fly Fishing Film Tour there was a film called Doc and The Drakes.(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niu_Br7i7O0)
The gentleman that was a doctor and lives with serve Parkinson's that has limited his fishing time due to the disease.The whole story Doc had missed fish after fish until the last day at sunset where he final hooked up with a 25" Brown Trout which was brought to the net.The rejoice of the Doc and the guide was well worth all the missed fish.

Last summer I had a chance to guide Don Larmouth a local fishing legend and author of "Tarpon on  Fly" http://www.amazon.com/Tarpon-Fly-Donald-Larmouth/dp/1571882707 His Parkinson has limit him to short boat fishing after a life time of angling for the giant's of the deep.On one of our days we lost a 21" plus smallmouth bass at boat side after landing four in a row.Anther morning we where met by the flying ant hatch which we landed fish to Don's exhaustion.I hold those two days as some of the best fishing memories of my life.
